Atlanta’s culinary scene is about to get a spicy addition with the upcoming opening of Xi Hotpot, a restaurant that aims to introduce the authentic flavors of Sichuan hotpot to metro Atlanta. Scheduled for a soft opening on February 24, 2024, Xi Hotpot is located at 2645 North Berkley Lake Rd NW in Duluth and draws inspiration from the gastronomic traditions of Chongqing, a municipality within China’s Sichuan province. With an extensive menu and a focus on rich flavors and fresh ingredients, Xi Hotpot promises to be a vibrant addition to the city’s dining landscape.
At Xi Hotpot, guests can embark on a gastronomic journey through the flavors of Sichuan cuisine. The a la carte menu boasts an impressive selection of 95 hotpot delicacies, featuring classic Sichuan flavors such as Mala (numbing spicy) and a range of ingredients, including fresh-cut meat and various offal options. Noteworthy items on the menu include Milk Marinated Thick Cut Beef, Spicy Tender Beef Slices, Fried Crispy Pork, Chilled Duck Intestines, and Pig Brain. To complement the meal, the restaurant also offers ten non-alcoholic beverage options.
The 6,000-square-foot space of Xi Hotpot provides a vibrant and inviting atmosphere for diners. With 105 seats in an open area and an additional 10 seats in a private dining room, the restaurant can accommodate both intimate gatherings and larger groups. The interior design features a color palette of red and teal, accented with lattice woodwork. Pendant lights inspired by traditional paper lanterns cast a soft glow on the murals that depict scenes reminiscent of ancient Chinese landscapes, creating an immersive dining experience.
Leading the culinary team at Xi Hotpot is Theo Wang, an expert in the hotpot culinary scene. With previous experience at The Dolar Shop, a global high-end hotpot chain, Theo brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to the table. Under his guidance, the Xi Hotpot team focuses on two fundamental elements: the rich, nuanced flavors of the broth and the freshness of the ingredients. Many of the ingredients used in the restaurant are sourced directly from local Asian markets, including Great Wall and Jusgo Supermarket, ensuring an authentic and high-quality dining experience.
Co-owner Kevin Zhang expressed his hopes for Xi Hotpot to be a place where tradition and culture can shine. The restaurant’s name, “Xi,” which means “light” in Chinese, reflects this sentiment. Through its culinary offerings and immersive dining experience, Xi Hotpot aims to showcase the rich traditions and flavors of Sichuan cuisine, providing a space for the local community to embrace and appreciate Chinese culture.
As Xi Hotpot prepares to open its doors in Duluth, metro Atlanta residents can look forward to experiencing the authentic flavors of Sichuan hotpot. With a diverse menu, a vibrant dining atmosphere, and a focus on rich flavors and fresh ingredients, Xi Hotpot promises to be a culinary destination that will delight food enthusiasts and introduce a new dimension of Chinese cuisine to the city. So mark your calendars for February 24, 2024, and get ready to embark on a flavorful journey through the heart of Sichuan cuisine at Xi Hotpot.
