Hyundai’s upcoming second-generation Palisade SUV has been spotted undergoing development in Sweden, and spy photographers have captured the first shots of both its interior and exterior. The new Palisade is expected to follow in the footsteps of its smaller sibling, the 2024 Santa Fe, with a bold and distinctive design. While the exterior showcases a more upright front, unique headlights, and a large grille, the interior takes a slightly more conservative approach with curved surfaces and lines. Let’s delve into the details and explore what the next-generation Palisade has in store.
The spy shots of the Palisade’s interior reveal a more curved and modern design compared to the current model. The center console and door panels feature curved surfaces and lines, giving the cabin a sleek and sophisticated look. One of the highlights is a single piece of curved glass that will house two expansive displays, likely matching the Santa Fe’s 12.3-inch units. These displays will serve as the instrument cluster and infotainment system. Additionally, the Palisade will feature a redesigned steering wheel, reminiscent of the one used in the latest Land Rover models. Overall, the new Palisade’s interior is expected to offer better materials, a more modern aesthetic, and fresh tech features.
The second-generation Palisade draws inspiration from the unconventional design of the 2024 Santa Fe. The front of the Palisade features a slightly more upright stance, with distinctive headlights and daytime running lights. The large grille, a signature element of the current model, is retained. The A-pillars, roof, and side window shape closely resemble those of the Santa Fe, characterized by straight lines and sharp corners. While the spy shots show rounded wheel arches, it is likely that the production model will adopt squared fender flares, similar to its smaller sibling. Overall, the new Palisade’s exterior design promises to be bold and eye-catching, setting it apart from its competitors.
The next-generation Palisade will transition to a different platform with an elongated wheelbase, allowing for improved interior space. Hyundai aims to enhance the cabin’s comfort and practicality, making it even more appealing to families. Along with the increased space, the new Palisade will introduce new powertrain options. These include a 2.5-liter hybrid system and a turbocharged 3.5-liter V6, replacing the current 3.8-liter V6. Both engines will be mated to an 8-speed automatic transmission, available in either front-wheel drive or all-wheel drive configurations. These powertrain updates will not only improve performance but also contribute to better fuel efficiency.
Hyundai’s Vice President of Product Planning, Olabisi Boyle, has confirmed that the next-generation Palisade will undergo a significant redesign. She stated that the changes will be as dramatic as those seen in the Santa Fe. With the Palisade’s expected within the next 12 months, we can anticipate a fresh and innovative SUV that pushes the boundaries of design and technology.
The upcoming second-generation Hyundai Palisade promises an exciting evolution of the popular mid-size SUV. With a more conservative yet modern interior design and a bold exterior inspired by the Santa Fe, the new Palisade aims to captivate buyers with its unique style. The enhanced interior space, along with new powertrain options, further elevates the Palisade’s appeal. As Hyundai continues to push the boundaries of design and innovation, the next-generation Palisade is poised to make a lasting impression in the competitive SUV market.
